Begijnhofkerk SINT-TRUIDEN • 01 09 1990 - 11 11 1990
Together with the Labo team we designed this first major exhibition.
A selection of 125 late-Gothic sculptures from home and abroad were brought together and confronted with each other in the Museum/Beguinage Church in Sint Truiden. The assignment was to show the sculptures to the public in a ‘contemporary’ way in the medieval interior (with beautiful wall paintings). By using existing metal scaffolding systems, an open structure could be formed, so that the interior of the church remained completely clear. The sculptures were grouped on a number of ‘islands’ according to a strict scenario. Sculptures that are very precious were placed in transparent volumes.
The sculptures were secured as inconspicuously as possible and could be viewed by the public at eye level.
