100 jaar Tuinwijken

Etterbeek, 27-28 05 2022

The adventure of the garden suburbs in Brussels lasted rather short, but it produced some very nice testimonials. The concept, devised by an English urban planner at the end of the 19th century, involved building neighbourhoods on the outskirts of towns to make the transition between town and country. They brought the residents closer to nature. The collected testimonies and the beautiful visual material were incorporated in a number of totems that could be viewed during a week-end in the neighbourhoods of Jouët-Rey and Coquilhat. The travelling exhibition was designed to be built in a few minutes.
